Spiritual Emergence/Emergency Peer Support Specialist Training

Clinical Spiritual Emergency Specialist Training

Professional training and education for licensed health care providers, i.e. psychologists, psychiatrists, mental health counselors, nurses, addiction counselors, massage therapists and other health care providers who have a statutory credential or are in a recognized program leading to licensure to provide professional level credentialing for working with patients/clients in spiritual emergency. Training is provided via workshops, proprietary written, audio and video material and clinical supervision. Evaluation of successful learning is by completion of competency based testing for all participants in this program.
 This two-year program is internship based and is used for supervision and training of all staff members at CSE. The format is highly experiential, including weekly clinical supervision with Dr. Jefferys and other senior staff members, monthly Grof Breathwork groups facilitated by outside staff, leadership training and clinical supervision training unique to work with clinicians providing services to people experiencing spiritual emergencies.

For those interested in setting up sister programs additional administrative training in accreditation, facility licensure, ethics, professional accountability and revenue cycle management, including coding and documentation for third-party reimbursement help to round out this program truly "walking the mystical path with practical feet".  An explicit goal of this program is to train leadership for the development and expansion of multiple sites in the United States using Grof's model and providing services to people in spiritual emergency.

  • Using the Spiritual Emergence Screening Instrument (tm) 2021
  • Diagnosing and treatment planning for spiritual emergencies
  • Transpersonal, integral, and cross-cultural wisdom traditions models of change
  • Mindfulness-based therapies
  • Body-centered therapies
  • Expressive arts therapies
  • Grof Breathwork
  • Holotropic therapy
  • Individual and group work
  • Ceremonial and ritual aspects of healing
  • Addiction as spiritual emergency
  • Psychedelic therapies including Ketamine and other psychedelics
  • Working with people who have experienced Ibogain, Ayahuasca, MDMA, LSD and other psychedelic/plant medicines*

  • The role of community, family, and authentic relationship as critical elements of reintegration and healing

Spiritual Emergence Peer Support Specialist Training

This peer support specialist training is a continuing education program for individuals who have completed a statutory peer support specialist training and would like to work with people in spiritual emergencies. This training consists of a cost-effective additional training module to specifically address spiritual emergencies.
