Takiwasi, a center for drug abuse rehabilitation in the Peruvian jungle, has worked for 25 years as a therapeutic community and a research space for the study of traditional rainforest medicines. In this lecture, Susana will present the fundamentals of Takiwasi's therapeutic model along with her own experience as a former researcher, and later a therapist and clinical supervisor for the center. Special emphasis will be paid to the bridges that have been and are still necessary to build in order for this hybrid model to gain efficacy and safety.

Susana Bustos Susana Bustos is a Chilean Clinical Psychologist and Music Therapist, who has focused on exploring the healing potential of expanded states of consciousness for over 20 years. Her clinical training includes certifications in Transpersonal Psychology and Holotropic Breathwork, Spiritual Emergence/y, Gestalt, and the Expressive Arts. Her main body of research and clinical interests addresses the role of music on entheogenic consciousness, the effects of ritualized intake of non-psychotropic master plants in psychotherapeutic processes, and the process of integration of experiences in expanded states of consciousness in daily life. Susana works as an integrative counselor in private practice, as an instructor at the California Institute of Integral Studies and mentor for students at its Certificate on Psychedelic Assisted Therapies and Research. Susana is the volunteer director of the Spiritual Emergence Network in the US. Her latest book contribution Healing Icaros in Peruvian Vegetalismo appears in Luna & White's "Ayahuasca Reader: Encounters with the Amazon's Sacred Vine" (2016).
